All You Need To Know About iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR

Apple’s new iPhones for 2018, are officially here, the new arrivals are iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. The company announced three new iPhones in the Apple September Event yesterday to celebrate it ten years of existence of iPhones.
Apple September Event is always the place to announce the new consumer gadgets and accessories. Apple do this yearly just before Christmas so that you can either buy now or save for it before Christmas.

The first two new models announced are called the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Whiles they both have the same features,  they are very different in size.  One of them is the biggest iPhone ever made and it’s one of the biggest phones out there, believe me.

Not all the news on Wednesday was appealing. The company is no longer selling the iPhone X, 6S, 6S Plus or SE models through its website. The four phones are surprisingly missing and most shockingly the best selling SE.

The apparent discontinuation of the SE was not expected. That iPhone model was popular with consumers looking for a smaller or inexpensive iPhone.

About iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

The company have improved  almost all part of the new iPhones. The main difference is in the size.

The iPhone XS, for instance, which has the same 5.8-inch screen size as the iPhone X while the XS Max model has a huge 6.5-inch screen. That’s far bigger than the iPhone 8 Plus (5.5 inches) and bigger even than the Galaxy Note 9 (6.4 inches)

That improvement  includes a display with better dynamic range, wider stereo sound from the speakers, and speed increases to Face ID.

Apple is introducing a new method called “Smart HDR” that sounds very similar to what Google does with the Pixel it takes many photos and stitches them together into one properly captured image.

The two iPhone models have passed IP68 so they are now water resistant. The processor is getting a big boost as well, using Apple’s newly unveiled A12 Bionic processor, a six-core chip that’s among the first in the industry to use a 7nm process. Tim Cook called the devices “by far the most advanced iPhone we have ever created.”

The phones will both come in three capacities: 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The 512GB version is a new height even for Apple. It’s not the first company to hit that incredible storage point in a smartphone, but it’s still relatively quick to get there. Both models are available for  orders.  Preorders start tomorrow  (Friday), with the phones shipping out September 21st.

About iPhone XR

iPhone-XR-Blue

iPhone-XR-Blue

The iPhone XR  is scantily similar  to both XS iPhones above.  The similarities can be found  processors and camera. The iPhone XR comes with Apple’s latest A12 Bionic processor, just like the iPhone XS and XS Max. Apple says offers improved speeds and performance. That is much better than last year’s model, particularly for Apple’s “Neural Engine” AI processing. The XR  also have a 12MP camera with wide view capture just like the XS and XS Max. Same advance Face ID is used here. That is where the similarities end.

The new iPhone XR features a notched 6.1-inch LCD display and Apple’s Face ID system, similar to last year’s iPhone X.

Apple is calling the 6.1-inch screen a “Liquid Retina” display, which offers a 1792 x 828 resolution at 326 PPI, featuring Apple’s True Tone technology.

Other differences includes the frame is aluminum, not stainless steel.  XR has IP67 rating on water and dust protection. That is significantly lower rating to XS’ model which has IP68 as I mentioned earlier.

The screen is LCD and not OLED.  iPhone XR also has no 3D Touch,  instead there’s  a new Haptic touch system by Apple.

While the XR model is slightly less powerful to both XS iPhones it does have an advantage of cheaper price. The iPhone XR starts at $749 (₦ 260,000) for a 64GB model, with 128GB and 256GB models also available. You can Preorder it from October 19th. Shipping will start  a week later on October 26th.
